The new Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate percentage of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance between her and the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University’s Walking One-Night Stand.Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby needs—and wants—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match. – Goodreads
My Opinion: Ok where to start? First off, plot wasn’t bad. There were points that I really liked. The fact that it was a college setting was really nice. I am getting a little tired of high school settings. I liked that it was a full college campus and that it had the little “Fight Club” action in it, although I am not really a fan of boxing, it added a little something extra to the story.
Secondly, the characters… okay for me they were not that believable. I didn’t feel connected to either Abby or Travis. Their whole relationship was all about the dependency they felt towards each other. I couldn’t really relate to that I have never seen or experienced that dependency so it didn’t really make me crazy about their relationship. Travis was a little obsessive too, these relationships are just not healthy and it was a little overboard I think. At certain parts of the book, the story was only about how obsessive he was with her or how she was with him.
The plot was not all that interesting. I enjoyed the college scenery, but the overall story was not that unique really. Boy likes Girl, Girl likes Boy but doesn’t want a relationship, Girl dates other boy, Boy 1 gets jealous, Boy 2 gets jealous, Boy 1 and Girl get together…
Overall: 3 out of 5
