Seeing a baby yawnDrawing on a foggy windowFinding a curly fry mixed in with your regular friesThese and 247 other little things that make everyday life a joy are collected in this delightful, surprising, and heartfelt book. Based on the popular website, this book will strike a chord in anyone who is open to celebrating the little moments of greatness all around us. – Goodreads

My opinion: This was a cute book there were a lot of different thing that should make you happy. There were some things that I just kept saying that is so true and then there were ones that I was flat out laughing.
The book basically lists different things that make you happy throughout your life. Life’s simple pleasures, as the title states. Some of the ones that were my favorites are:
  1. Being unable to finish a sentence because you’re laughing so hard about the ending.
  2. The sound of a little kid’s uncontrollable laughter.
  3. Collapsing on your bed after a long day.

The book was interesting and it’s a good read. I think that you will enjoy reading it. Just to make you smile or laugh.

I am also giving away my copy.

Review + Giveaway: Mind Games (Mind Games #1) by Kiersten White

Mind Games (Mind Games #1) by Kiersten White

Hardcover, 256 pages
Published February 19th 2013 by HarperTeen
Source: Won from Epic Reads
Fia was born with flawless instincts. Her first impulse, her gut feeling, is always exactly right. Her sister, Annie, is blind to the world around her—except when her mind is gripped by strange visions of the future.Trapped in a school that uses girls with extraordinary powers as tools for corporate espionage, Annie and Fia are forced to choose over and over between using their abilities in twisted, unthinkable ways… or risking each other’s lives by refusing to obey.In a stunning departure from her New York Times bestselling Paranormalcy trilogy, Kiersten White delivers a slick, edgy, heartstoppingly intense psychological thriller about two sisters determined to protect each other—no matter the cost. – Goodreads
My Opinion: Fia is one of my new favorite characters. I love female characters that are strong and independent and that can kick butt. So Fia is definitely a check on all 3.
Something that I found kinda of bad is how her sister knows that she is being used and manipulated for bad things and that she is doing them for her, she doesn’t really try to do anything to help her until the end. And that doesn’t really do much for Fia.
One of my favorite characters was James though. He is so ambiguous throughout the novel and you can never really tell what he is thinking and how he will react to different situations. I liked that he learned early on how to avoid psychics and their premonitions and how to stop someone from reading his mind. I’m also really glad with how he and Fia met. I think that the fact that he knows all of these things is important be cause he says that he learned it from having to avoid his mother.
In the end, we meet someone that wants to take down the organization but the problem is that their seer is older and that she had been recruited as well. Now the concept so far in the story has been that James’s father is the one that started to twist the idea of the the foundation. However, if it started earlier on than that, maybe it was his mother? But that is just a prediction of mine so I’m not sure. If anyone has else has read the book, do you think that that is possible?
Anyway, the plot was exciting. I loved the way it started out with a hit and how it ended with Fia making a very big decision about her role in the foundation and who James will be for her.
I enjoyed the book and can’t wait for the next one. Now I am offering my copy up for grabs! Who wants it!?

Blog Tour Review + Giveaway: My Wolf’s Bane by Veronica Blade

My Wolf’s Bane by Veronica Blade

Paperback, 389 pages
Published February 1, 2013 by Crush Publishing, Inc

Different species. Mortal enemies. It’ll never work, but they’ll die trying.

Autumn Rossi thought she was a normal teenager. Suddenly, she can outrun every critter in the forest, making her wonder if she’s even human.

When the new guy at school, Zack de Luca, witnesses a questionable scene, he unfairly pins her as stuck-up. He acts like he hates her, yet he keeps bailing her out of trouble. Not only is Zack both insufferable and irresistible, he seems to sniff her anytime he gets close.

As passion flares between them, Autumn isn’t sure which is more dangerous: her psycho ex-boyfriend, or falling for Zack — who’s risking his life just by being near her.

My opinion: This was an interesting read. I liked the way that we were able to follow the changes that happen to Autumn and the two boys who are “fighting” for her attention. Okay lets go over the boys. Zack is a mysterious stranger, he just transferred to the school and he hates Autumn almost immediately of meeting her. However, he is always there to help her in difficult situations. Some examples are when her car doesn’t start or when her ex-boyfriend tries to hurt her.
The only thing really sort of bothered was how trusting she was of Zack. I wouldn’t be even if I was feeling the attraction between them. It would actually make me even more suspicious. But anyways, I think the fact that he kept giving her so many mixed signals made the story more dramatic. Especially with him coming in to help her at all the right times. One moment he was helping and being nice and the next he was telling to leave him alone essentially.
I found it really interesting that Zach was able to keep himself safe and her safe from both the recruiters and the ex. In the beginning of the novel, I didn’t really like both the guys but Zack grew on me as the story went on. I guess he was just as confused as Autumn about why he was feeling that way towards her and how she can be one way when she is different based on the “first encounter.”
One thing that I have to say, books are made by the villains, they are the ones that make us root for the protagonists and Veronica Blade definitely made me hate the ex and the recruiters. So good job on that Ms. Blade.

Here is an excerpt of the book:

I tossed the makeup bag into my backpack, slung it over my shoulder and whipped open the door. Barreling out of the bathroom, I slammed into what felt like a walking boulder. I ricocheted off the human rock and my backpack hit the wall behind me, throwing me off balance and pitching me forward into the hard, linoleum tile.

My palms cushioned my fall, but I winced as pain spiked up my wrists. On all fours, I lifted my chin and peeked through my curtain of dark hair.

He wore a black tee that molded to his wide, muscular shoulders and jeans that fit over powerful legs. Wow. I’d thought my soon-to-be-ex-boyfriend was cute, but this guy…

“You okay?” the hottie asked in a sexy, gravelly voice, stretching a hand toward me. His hand wrapped around mine and effortlessly pulled me up, as if I weighed no more than my calculus book. Maybe it was the throbbing in my limbs or the warmth of his hands on my elbows. Or maybe it was his earthy scent invading my senses, but a wave of dizziness hit me and I tipped forward.

His hands shot to my hips to steady me. “Easy there.”

I stared into his deep, green eyes as my palms rested on his hard biceps for support. Lord, he smelled good, like the forest after rain.

My breath hitched.
